This report describes findings from a study related to the pedagogy of lifelong learning. The starting point was the question: ”What can be offered to those who have already taken all the usual courses?” The focus is thus on individuals with long experience and high competency. They can be seen as specialists but still want to develop one step further in their profession. The study investigated whether masterclass pedagogy, which is common in, e.g., the highest levels of musical teaching, can also be applied to other subjects, such as engineering, to address this question. The report reviews the masterclass concept and what kind of competencies it can contribute to. It also provides a summary of the key competencies required in the systems field, in particular, systems thinking and systems engineering. Then, it investigates if and how such pedagogy can be applied to advanced education of, e.g., systems engineers, systems architects, or system analysts. Finally, practical opportunities and challenges with this kind of pedagogy and education are summarized.
