Abstract [sv]

Background: Previous research shows that both patients and relatives value good communication and respectful treatment. The transition to palliative care affects both patients and relatives, and deficiencies in healthcare create insecurity and feelings of loss of control. Patients clarify the importance of a good care environment in creating a positive experience of palliative care. Aim: The aim was to compile an overview of nurses experiences of palliative care. Method: A general literature review containing 12 articles, of which two are quantitative and ten are qualitative. Result: Three themes could be identified in the results: Barriers in palliative care, Cooperation in teams, Collaborating with patients and relatives. Conclusion: Ethical and emotional challenges in palliative care place high demands on nurses’ empathy, resilience, and access to adequate support. Effective teamwork, clear communication and organizational support are identified as key factors in maintaining a sense of security and ensuring high-quality care. Insufficient support structures may contribute to stress and exhaustion. Educational initiatives and further research on support mechanisms are deemed essential to promote both care quality and nurses’ well-being.
