Abstract [en]

This degree project deals with interior walls of concrete for multi-family houses and includes a comparison between prefabricated solid walls and site-cast walls. The main focus has been to study how these two methods are different from each other in matter of time, economy, working environment and construction. The study is based on the object Kv. Triton that Peab has built. The Construction site used solid walls and we wanted to compare and see what the result would be like if they used site cast in walls instead. The study contains a theoretical part where concreate, site casting, prefabricated elements and working environment have been studied in more detail. The information was gathered from internet sources, books, interviews. Several visits to the construction site and a visit to the factory Abetong in Kvicksund that makes the solid walls has been done. The study also clarifies how the two walls are drawn and explains the differences regarding construction. The result regarding time and economy is based on a calculation made for 1000 m² walls. This study shows that solid walls can save up to 6 days of building time when being used, that’s because the walls come ready with holes and electrical boxes and the construction site only needs to mount the walls. This leads to lower cost on site but higher production cost. Structurally the walls can handle the same loads, but the solid walls are dependent on the factory mold table, therefore some sizes are not durable. Site cast walls are more flexible and the construction site can cast walls as they please. The drawing of solid walls takes more time due to that a prefabricated constructor must have drawings from other consults such as general constructor, architect, electricity-, ventilation- and plumbing consult. The working environment was better when solid walls were being used because the heavy work from building a concreate wall was avoided.
