This is a thesis on information design with focus on text design. The purpose of the study is to investigate how abortion information should be designed for women who are going to have an abortion. This is so that they can understand and satisfy the information. The aim of the study is to produce a design proposal that meets the needs and preferences of the target group.
The methods used during the study are qualitative interviews with people from the target group and an expert in the field of abortion. A readability analysis has also been performed to find out the strengths and shortcomings of the current brochure. The result that emerged from the methods was that the information distributed today is not adapted to my intended target group. Among other things, some technical terms are used that are not explained, which makes the text more advanced to understand. A design proposal has finally been developed that meets both the needs of the target group and the requirements of the Patient Act.
The design proposal is based on easy-to-read, human centered design, crisis communication, readability, legibility and reading value, as well as visual hierarchy.
