Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to understand customers' requirements and attitudes that determine their purchase intention of second-life batteries from electric vehicles. Research question: What are the customers' requirements and attitudes that determine their purchase intention of second-life batteries from electric vehicles? Methodology: This is a qualitative study with an abductive approach. The theoretical framework guided the empirical data collection, however, the theoretical framework was modified as a result of new information from the empirical findings. Empirical data was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews with respondents from several companies, which can be described as a multiple-case study. Conclusion: Safety, warranties, battery service-life and battery reliability are requirements that can determine customers' purchase intention of second-life batteries. Furthermore, epistemic value, functional value-price and functional value-quality can determine customers' attitude and purchase intention.
