Open innovation (OI) has enabled and accelerated innovation in times of crisis and in addressing sustainable goals, yet such endeavors have also sparked ethical concerns, related to issues such as data privacy and transparency or individual free choice. This chapter sets out to investigate ethical issues in OI by systematically reviewing the relevant literature in the field. The 59 selected articles are divided across three major themes, highlighting both positive ("the Good") and negative ("the Bad") aspects of OI in relation to ethical considerations. The chapter concludes with a synthesis of the literature review as well as future research recommendations. © Oxford University Press 2024. All rights reserved.
