This study investigates the use of learning management systems (LMSs) in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education in upper secondary school classrooms in Sweden by focusing on student experiences with an LMS. The study aims to explore Swedish upper secondary school students’ experiences using an LMS in their EFL education to gain extensive knowledge of pedagogical implications that hopefully can help to favor future EFL education teaching and learning practices. Furthermore, the study aims to examine the advantages and disadvantages offered using an LMS in EFL education from the perspective of upper secondary school students. Using a mixed-methods approach, data were collected via a questionnaire from 33 students enrolled in English 5, 6, and 7 courses at an upper secondary school in Sweden. The results from the study suggest that upper secondary school students’ experiences with and preferences for the LMS vary depending on the kind of activity they perform in English class. The study showed that the LMS can, when used effectively, enhance students’ motivation to participate in English classes.
