Mälardalen University, School of Innovation, Design and Engineering.
2001 (English)Conference paper, Published paper (Refereed)
Abstract [en]

More than 5000 statements from more than 300 subjects show that pictures can generate a great variety of associationsin audiences. Different assignments to a picture will influence the meaning in the mind of the viewer. A picture mayalways be interpreted in different ways. In information design it is not sufficient to choose and use good pictures. Pic-tures used in information materials always should have captions to guide the understanding of their intended contents.
