This thesis explores a novel method of multi-focus image fusion. Multi-focus image fusionis the process of fusing dierent parts of several digital images, all with dierentfocus settings but representing the same scene, in order to produce an all-in-focus image.Today's digital cameras lack the functionality to perform multi-focus image fusion. This forces the photographers to use image editing software to achieve all-in-focus photographs, which is an unnecessary amount of work. The method developed in this thesisuses image histograms to compare focus levels accurately and fast. The results show thatthe method works, and with some further development could be used in digital cameras,as well as other devices that may classify as embedded systems.
